Do You Know Who Jesus Is?

Sunday, February 19, 2012

Scriptures:  Colossians 1:15-20, Philippians 2:6-11, John 10:30-39, 12:45-50, 14:1-6 and 1 Corinthians 15:47-49

In a society where name dropping is the norm, too often we misinterpret having knowledge of an individual’s occupation as a relationship with them.  In a dichotomous dialogue between Jesus and his disciples, he asks the question “Who do people say the Son of Man is?" Peter answered and said “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."  Jesus affirms Peter’s response by saying “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven.”

You see, the profession of our faith diminishes when we masquerade a form of Christianity absent a viable relationship with Christ.  It is imperative that we connect relationally not legalistically with Him. In other words, a definitive answer to the question would be a lifestyle conducive to knowing Him as the Lord of our lives!
