WHO IS YOUR CLOTHIER: FLESH OR SPIRIT?

Sunday, June 10, 2012

Scriptures:  Roman 13:8-14 (NLT), Gen. 2, 3:4-7, 20-21, Eze. 11:18-20, Rom. 12:3-6, Ps. 34:11-14, 51:10-11, James 1:14-15, 19-20 (J.B. Phillips) , 3:2-12, Prov. 26:4, 1 Kings 3:3-14, Matt. 3:13-17 (NKJV), Philippians 2:1-11, 1 Peter 5:6, Eph. 6:5-9, 2 Cor. 5:17, John 8:31-36 and Romans 12:16-18

When music artists’ actors or actresses are interviewed on the red carpet for various movie and music awards, the correct pronunciation of the designer’s name and identifiable characteristics regarding the collection from which they are clothed is critical.

In retrospect, the simplicity of being clothed in a designer’s couture is superficial; especially when it only masks the inner workings of an individual’s life, as oppose to being conducive with their inner workings, as well.

Too often as believers we clothe ourselves through illicit indulgences because of their esthetic appeal and temporal satisfaction, rather than being scheduled for a private customized fitting, with the original clothier!

In other words, when our self-worth trajectory is contingent upon the dysfunctional illusions of another, in essence we are admitting to being improperly clothed. We who are covered and cleansed by the blood of Jesus must emphatically saturate our minds with the Word of God.  You see, the eternal clothier of the spirit, through the Word of God, has already made provision for the guarding of every gateway that has access to our thoughts while we walk victoriously on the red carpet of life.

WHY UNCLEAN SPIRITS CAN RETURN HOME

Sunday, June 03, 2012

Scriptures:  Matt. 12:43-45, 8:28-32, 2 Peter 2:19-21, Heb. 6:4-6 and John 8:34-36

Have you ever wondered how an evil spirit has the audacity to return and wreak even greater havoc in someone’s life?  You see, when an evil spirit goes out of a person it roams about seeking dry places (presence of Holy Spirit not dominant and operative) to rest and finds none.  The blatancy with which it returns to his house is due to an absence of the Word of God in an individual’s life.

The absurdity of an evil spirit returning should not be contingent on works, but the confrontational yoke destroying power of God’s Word evident in our lives. In short, evil spirits are not irascible at the temporal evacuation of illicit indulgences (modified behavior), but by wet places overflowing with the presence of rivers of living water (transformation). Remember, the depiction of one’s residence is defined by their allegiance to the governing authority; whether tangible or intangible.
